In this sudden crisis raised by the Diocese of Barbastro-Monzón in Aragon, Spain, with the Marian sanctuary of Opus Dei in the area, Torreciudad, there is a fundamental and tragic element that cannot be overlooked, and that the Diocese intends to go unnoticed and transfer responsibility to Opus Dei when it especially affects Spanish Cardinal Omella and the late Bishop Alfonso Milián (both bishops of Barbastro-Monzón in the recent past), and the current Bishop Ángel Pérez Pueyo.

30-YEAR PEDOPHILIA CRISIS IN BARBASTRO-MONZÓN, DISGUISED AND COVERED UP
We cannot overlook the terrible crisis hidden by the Diocese of Barbastro-Monzón with its criminal silences: the priest Amadeo Elcoso exercised his ministry for about 30 years, and two weeks ago he is being tried for repeatedly raping an altar boy when he was 8 years old.

Is the Torreciudad case we are dealing with now a smoke screen? Was a huge compensation asked for in the trial a few days ago, or is the diocese in danger of being asked for a subsidiary liability for these rapes and the tacit silence of the bishops Omella (1999-2004), Milián (2004-2014) and now Pérez Pueyo (with less responsibility, perhaps, since Elcoso was secularized in 2012, too late)?
Amadeo Elcoso had been abusing children and young people in Monzón for three decades, and had even been the subject of conversation by Bishop Milián on an expedition with locals to Poland, where Milián said he had to "get rid of him" because he couldn't take it anymore. It was the year 2011, but that "get rid of him" was to move him to another parish, in the neighboring town of Barbastro, without warning the parishioners. Amadeo Elcoso always said it was a promotion, but after the rape complaint, Bishop Milián had no choice but to secularize him.

THE TORRECIUDAD CRISIS, A SMOKE SCREEN FROM BISHOP PÉREZ-PUEYO
We understand that the bishop's crisis with Torreciudad, sudden, unexpected, by surprise and by assault, which occurs a few days after the first trial against Amadeo Elcoso in the Court of HUESCA, is a smoke screen to distract from the fact that the Diocese of Barbastro-Monzón has not apologized for having a priest abusing minors and vulnerable young people for 30 years. And they have positively stated to one of our Spanish correspondents that they will not apologise.
We also understand that this crisis will be resolved. Opus Dei has good communicators and knows how to rise to the occasion. And it is also clear that the bishop of Barbastro-Monzón, as good as he is supposed to be, has taken advantage of being invited to preside over the big, enticing cake of the 31st Marian Family Day on September 16, 2023, which costs nothing to the pilgrims but involves tens of thousands of euros in expenses. He was already invited in 2017. Maybe then his eyes were opened, and he waited until two months before this year's celebration to raise the alarm and storm with a harangue to the faithful who will approach, as he harangued in the homily he was invited to give in the church of St. Josemaría in Barbastro on last June 26, on the feast of the saint, in which he glossed over the sad motu proprio written by the arch-enemy of Opus Dei, recently created Cardinal, Giancarlo Ghirlanda and signed by Francis to checkmate Opus Dei. Right now the Diocese of Barbastro-Monzón brandishes the Ad Charisma Tuendum to want to validate its far-fetched idea that the canonical situation of Opus Dei is "in suspense", unclear, and until that moment mgr. Pérez-Pueyo intends to take the reins of a matter that does not belong to him. Or so it seems, in all fairness.
